What to Watch for in Your Breast Health?

It’s crucial to recognize the warning signs related to your breasts and, even more importantly, to act on them! While most breast lumps are not cancerous, it’s essential to have any changes checked by a doctor. If you notice any of the following symptoms, please make an appointment:

  • Lumps or areas of thickened tissue
  • Red or irritated areas or rashes
  • Dimpling of the breast skin
  • Changes in nipple appearance (color, size, or inversion)
  • Heat or pain in the breast area (not related to your menstrual cycle)
  • Changes in breast size
  • Swelling in the armpit
  • Discharge from the nipple

Stay vigilant and prioritize your health!

*Here’s a not so easy to share story.  When I was teaching preschool, a little one of my students was sitting on my lap and hit me quite hard in my breast by accident.  Totally forgetting this happened and carrying on, I woke up about three days later to discharge coming out of my nipple and  I thought I was going to die.  I immediately went to the doctors and they expressed the gross stuff and asked me if I had any recent breast trauma?  I said no, because how could a 4-year-old head-butting me in the left boob be considered trauma? Well, it was.  Being told to basically put your boob on bedrest and tenderly care for it shifted some things for me.  We women are so busy, that we dismiss our bumps and bruises and Nevertheless, she continues.

Please take the time to incorporate breast health into your monthly routine…. Maybe the week before or after your menstrual cycle you make a mental or add it to your calendar to date your boobies.  Touch your tatas, love yourself enough to mindfully make your boobs your priority.

Also!  I had been a size 2 and “barely A” all my life.  Now after menopause, my relationship with my tatas is so different.  They’re big girls now and it might be karma from how I spoke to my mom (God bless her soul) I would say “ those girls are wasted on the old”  and she would just say “KRISTEN” back to me!  Now with my “fatty breast,”  I think of my not-so-kind comments to her and consciously giving thanks to my bigger-than-big girls!

And here’s the thing! I  wished I loved myself at my barely A more,  I wish I was kinder to my very skinny self back then and didn’t waste my time trying to diet and conform so much.  When I was smaller than small tatas, I wanted to be bigger,  now bigger than big I want to be my small self again.

Because the only thing that is wasted on us women, at any stage of our lives or state of mental health, is self-love~ self-acceptance and self-appreciation.

Take gentle care of all of you!   Touch yourself and show your boobs some love and appreciation!
