Brutally Honest: Weary, But Never Alone

After a particularly upsetting day at work, I found myself driving home in a state of exhaustion. As I navigated the familiar streets, Bob Seger’s voice suddenly bellowed from the car speakers:

“I know it’s late, I know you’re weary

I know your plans don’t include me…”

The haunting emotion in his voice, especially in the line “I know you’re weary,” hit me hard. I started to cry—no, really bawl. For decades, I have been coaching women facing traumatic events, women who have been through the wringer of life. But this current time on our planet is something else entirely. It’s not just one small event that throws us off course; it’s repeated situations that are utterly crushing.

At that moment, it felt as if Bob Seger was singing directly to my brave clients and to me, acknowledging the weariness of life for all of us.

“I know it’s late, I know you’re weary

I know your plans don’t include me

Still, here we are, both of us lonely

Both of us lonely”

As women, we often have to endure loneliness together, sharing the burden of weariness and the struggles of life. We must make plans for unity, shedding the energy that doesn’t uplift us, and carrying forward with a new plan of connection and support.

To the women I spoke to last month, I want you to know this: You are never alone. We may be weary, but we are never alone.

In light of this, I am hosting a monthly drop-in conversation and uplifting hour. If you’d like to join in, please email me.

In these times of relentless challenges, it’s crucial to remember that we are a community. Let’s come together, support each other, and find strength in our shared experiences.
