These past two years, I think we all got a crash course in forced awareness about balancing our lives in a new way. I am curious about you, with all the past upheaval shifting and the constant state of change.
How are you sleeping? How are you eating? How is your workout routine? How are your relationships? How are all of you? Your emotional, spiritual, physical and mental bodies? (Not sure what I’m referring to? Read the All of You blog here.)
It’s pretty clear that the best indicator of being out of alignment is our eating, sleeping and, dare I say it, pooping! Those mundane everyday processes let us know how we are coping or not. They aren’t just indicators of our physical body’s unbalance but our emotional, mental and spiritual bodies as well.
I have to tell you that during the height of the pandemic I was suffering with migraines almost weekly; and when I get a migraine it’s not in my head but it’s an abdominal migraine that makes me stop everything, going to bed for days and then leaves me dealing with a migraine hangover, which I refer to as a hangover without all the fun!
Anyway, I realized that I was processing all the information that was coming at us and it was just too much. Especially the energy of FEAR that we are inundated by.
So, I went back to basics and focused on what I needed for sleep. What was I eating that made my body feel well and hitting my spiritual practices and digging deep into my spiritual toolbox. Being curious. Asking then listening and doing what my internal feedback was sharing. Balance. Balance. Balance. It sounds so like the 90’s huh? Like we’ve been there and done that but in actuality, that’s what we need NOW in a very different consciousness and awareness about all of US.
Ask yourself: Does this energy I am experiencing create an out of balance? If yes, use your go-to method of clearing your four body system. If you don’t have one, now is the perfect time to create a four-body care system such as: Smudging, grounding, music or movement. Or simply say, “Go back where you came from. You’re not mine!”
A few weeks ago SNL did a skit “Is My Brain Okay?” In the skit they showed a picture of a wheelbarrow and the contestant had to name it. They couldn’t! That skit was spot on, showing how we’re still detoxing from the pandemic invisible dust of fear, trauma, overwhelm that carries over to all of our bodies.
I think it’s pretty clear that we’re recognizing how off we are feeling. How our brain seems to skip a beat sometimes and affects our clarity. That’s okay. It’s a signal or hint that we need to self soothe, selfcare and love ourselves more.
Take a mini recharge moment and perhaps try one of these:
- Go to a place/room alone. Take a moment of quiet. (Coming clean here! Pun intended: I hide in the laundry area. No one’s gonna look for me there! And I find the sound of the dryer or washer soothing. I ground and breathe and then go back at it!)
- Put your phone on airplane mode for 10 minutes (or off if you can)
- Go outside and ground yourself, feel your feet on mother earth!
- Drink a glass of water
- Listen to some music
- List three things you’re grateful for
Journal Prompt – The Wheel of Life
Take a moment and fill in The Wheel of Life. Rate each area from 1 to 10 to indicate how content you are in that section. Physical environment, business/career, finances, health, family and friends, romance, personal growth, fun and recreation.
I like to say it’s a “selfie” of how balanced your life feels at that moment. Look at the areas and then pick an area that you’d like to focus on and increase your attention for balancing and happiness. It’s a snapshot of how you are balancing all of your life and sometimes the physical picture of the whole of us gives us a glimpse into how we can shift and grow into balancing all of us!
Take gentle care!
