Give Me A Kiss To Build A Dream On

Give me a kiss to build a dream on

February being the month of love I wanted to share this information about the power and benefits of kissing! Not that we are not aware of the good feelings we get from kissing a loved one but here are the top 10 reasons to kiss for you mind, body and soul!

  1. Lowers blood pressure
  2. Decreases cortisol stress hormone
  3. Increases serotonin
  4. Reduces pain
  5. Increases oxytocin
  6. Improves immunity
  7. Fights off cavities
  8. Increases dopamine
  9. Improves mood
  10. Lowers anxiety

Being a die hard Pat’s fan I watch and read a great deal about the team. On game day I have a meal cooking away in the crock pot and my family knows not to impede my watching of the game. I recently watched the “raw” footage of a video taken in the locker room and saw a different side of the stone faced Belichick. He gruffly scolded a cameraman to get out of the way and stood at the door of the lockerroom and HUGGED every player and person coming into the locker room. Not just a hug but a full on bear hug!

I wanted to remind us all of the benefits of hugging, especially under stress or in overwhelm when our instinct might be to recoil for others!

Hugging is a team sport because the hugger and huggie both gain the benefits! A trusting, loving hug brings the most benefits which includes some of the same as kissing.

Increases levels of the “love hormone” oxytocin, which is beneficial for stress levels, heart health.

A 20-second hug reduces the harmful physical effects of stress, including its impact on your blood pressure and heart rate.

A 10-second hug a day may fight infections, boost your immune system, ease depression and lessen fatigue.

Hugging and kissing are two acts that are very beneficial to our health. The feeling of being loved always produces positive energy that enables us to do good deeds towards others and towards oneself.
