How Do You Welcome the “New” When Something Isn’t Working Right Now?

Those overwhelming feelings of frustration, fear, anxiety, sadness, and exhaustion can overshadow your instincts, making the new path you’re striving for feel like a lost cause.

After years—okay, decades—of helping women through some of life’s most challenging circumstances, I’ve come to rely on what I call “the gulp”—that murky, gray, and often ugly part of the process that precedes a breakthrough into something new.

Don’t get me wrong—it downright stinks. It makes us shrink, feeling small and disoriented like we’re stuck in limbo. Imagine you’re doing the limbo, bent way over backward and halfway under the pole. There’s a moment of disorientation as the pole skims your nose, but then—suddenly—you’re on the other side!

This is part of the growth process, a sign that you’re getting closer to something new. At that moment, recognize that this newness is moving toward you just as much as you’re moving toward it. This energy won’t let you down. Widen your awareness, and listen within for your intuition and instincts to kick in—they are your catalysts.

Take a break if you need to, and then sparkle up again in the light of your heart.

My mom used to say to me “Fatigue makes cowards of us all” which is a quote that is attributed to both U.S. Army General George S. Patton Jr. and football coach Vince Lombardi. I would get so upset with her and you know what, she was right.  Rest your emotional, physical, spiritual and mental body.  Rest my dear one, rest.
