Recently, I participated in a training session that touched on the weighty, almost dark energy many women carry—an energy that feels heavy and sticky, like a cloud hovering overhead. I was reminded of a powerful quote by Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who often cited Sarah Grimké, the abolitionist denied a legal career because of her gender: “I ask no favor for my sex. All I ask of our brethren is that they take their feet off our necks.” This was a mantra Ginsburg held close as she spent her life fighting for women’s rights.
I can’t help but wonder what Ruth would think and say about today’s world. I long for her wisdom and guidance. Reflecting on this quote during the training, we discussed how fear and oppression can grow into a self-sustaining force, a rolling, expanding energy that almost takes on a life of its own. Yet, this energy can be transformed, shifted, and alchemized back into light.
This year, I’m dedicating myself to clearing this energy from my own fields and my environment. I want to alchemize this heaviness into light and practice this transformation daily, so I can offer tips and encouragement to others on a similar path.
We’re not here to carry the karmic weight of others into our present or future. Instead, we’ll learn to recognize our own energy, seek truth in what we’re shown, and embrace our shadows with love. Together, let’s release all that holds us down and rise, free from any weight pressing down on our necks.
